Back Pain – A Symptom That Has Many Probable Causes

Back pain is a very common and very troublesome symptom that has many possible causes. It seems that these days we are more apt to suffer from back problems because of the time spent slumped over our computers or sitting in front of the television. Exercise is a good thing as long as it is done properly, or you could injure your back.

Research has reported that if you spend less time seated, you will be healthier. An alternative approach, if standing up all day to do your work isn’t an attractive option, is to get up and move around every 30 minutes or so. Something simple, such as standing up and stretching, or going for a five-minute walk, can make a big difference in the pressure your back is subjected to by sitting too long. These types of lab tests are not new to me since I already operate for many years as an ultrasound technician.

Many people that own a computer often carry it with them. If you do this on a regular basis, this can actually cause back pain to occur. It is not about just how much weight the object is, but the way that you carry it with you. Anyone that owns a handbag or a purse can definitely suffer from pain and discomfort by carrying it on only one side. If possible, carry less with you at any one time. If you travel a lot, and you take a suitcase with you, always use one that works by using wheels. Regardless of what you take along with you, make sure that you have the option to roll it so that it will not strain your back.

It is also possible that hormones that are created during your pregnancy may cause the vertebrae of the spine to ache as well. Many people use particular exercises that can help with the pain that they feel which is a byproduct of their condition. You might want to visit your physician to find out what exercises can help you. There are also classes that offer exercises of this nature. What you are suffering with right now can actually be alleviated to some degree as long as you do these regular exercises.

Unfortunately, even your doctor may not be able to accurately diagnose why you are having back pain. The reason may be simple. You may have picked up a heavy object and used your back for leverage instead of your legs. But sometimes, back pain can strike out of nowhere and it’s not easy to trace back to the root cause.
